- Gwendolyn Watkins's poems reflect her many interests and her
considerable experience.
She has been writing since childhood. Some of her earlier works were verses for
Hallmark greeting cards.
"I need at least three lives to do everything I want to do" is a common refrain
of hers. She now lives in Urbana, Illinois, and is promoting a unique art
collection called A Plate of Memories.
Song of the Sapphire, her first novel, was published by Columbia Publishing in
2002.
Raised and educated in St. Louis, Missouri, Watkins studied x-ray technology at
Washington University in Mallinkradt Institute and later earned her B.S. in
Botanical Biology.
She was employed at the renown Mayo Clinic, never losing focus on the arts. She
has visited every continent except the Arctic and Antarctic.
