Edwina Dorch received an undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D from the University of Colorado at boulder. She has taught university level courses in Missouri, Hawaii and California. She has chaired the Beverly-Hills Hollywood branch of the NAACP's Theater Awards Committee and has chaired the Black Screenwriter's Readers committee and has been a member of the Black Women's Network. A woman who is committee to the visual as well as the literary arts, she is a volunteer for the California African American Museum and the Los Angeles Times festival of Books. When asked about herself, she says her greatest personal achievement is the character of her daughter but she also feels her accomplishments are "the hope and the dream of the American slave". She currently serves as Community Research Coordinator for Los Angeles Country's Department of children and Family service.
