So Many Tears tells the story of Teresa who gives birth to a beautiful son
Isidro at the age of 16. The product of a broken home, she vows to show him the
love and affection she never received herself. For a time, she is able to do
this. Before long, Teresa has three additional children, two daughters, Peanut
and Sanyae and another son, Ricky. Times are tough living in the Edenwald
Housing Project in the Bronx, NY. Teresa battles demons that seem to come from
every direction. There is hardly enough money to go around and she must "borrow
from Peter to pay Paul." Somehow Teresa does here best to raise her children.
As time goes by, Isidro finishes school, joins the Army and eventually gets
married. Teresa's oldest daughter Peanut journeys to Japan by enlisting in the
Navy and her sister Sanyae leaves home to attend Cobleskill State University.
Teresa feels some sense of accomplishment in raising her children to adulthood.
She looks forward to her youngest son Ricky finally finishing school. Then she
can experience the "empty nest syndrome." But sadly, this does not happen. Life
takes a cruel turn when Isidro is arrested and charged with conspiracy.
Although Isidro has never been arrested, he is indicted under the RICO Act.
Teresa's world comes tumbling down.
She asks herself, "will there ever be a point where life is free from pain?"
Read So Many Tears and find out that Teresa's saga is not unique. Her story is
playing itself out in urban areas all over the country. This country's so
called War on Drugs has produced more than criminal convictions. It has brought
tears that have drowned the spirits of many people.
